About CodeBase Argyle House.

CodeBase Argyle House is Europe's largest technology incubator — a 220,000 sq ft landmark building overlooking Edinburgh Castle, home to over 80 technology companies employing approximately 900 people. Built in 1968 and acquired by CodeBase in the 2010s, Argyle House on Lady Lawson Street has become the defining address for Edinburgh's technology sector: Skyscanner, FreeAgent, and dozens of the city's most successful tech companies have worked out of CodeBase at various stages of their growth.

The CodeBase model goes beyond desk rental: the community includes active entrepreneur meetup groups (EdinburghJS, UX Edinburgh, Startup Grind), a mentor network, investor connections, and a regular programme of events that gives CodeBase members access to resources that go well beyond physical workspace. Day passes are available at just £10 — the cheapest in Edinburgh.

Note: as of May 2026, Argyle House is subject to a proposed redevelopment application. CodeBase holds a lease and has assured all tenants that the current situation is at an early planning stage with no immediate impact on the building or operations.
